Ask the owner to bring their pet at least 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment time.List Item 3
It can be difficult to give exact appointment times when running a mobile business, however I do respect everyone's time and I do my best to stay on schedule. Traffic, weather, "add on" cases, cancellations and difficult animals are several factors that can affect scheduling.

Give the owner the proper exam preparation instructions.List Item 4
See Exams and Preparations for details.

Shaving
Whenever possible, please have the animal shaved prior to my arrival.
Abdominal Ultrasounds: Please shave from the xyphoid process to the caudal abdomen with very wide margins extending laterally. Please shave to the skin.
Cardiac Ultrasounds: Please shave a square (3"x3") in the right and left medial axilla.
-
Sedation
Sedation is not required when performing an ultrasound, however, in many cases it does improve the images and ensures a complete exam. Please speak to the owners regarding sedation before the exam. Sedation will only be used if images are suboptimal due to motion and/or a tense abdomen.
-
Veterinary Personnel
At least one veterinary employee is required to be present during the ultrasound exam to monitor and physically restrain the patient. The ultrasound usually takes 30-60 minutes.
